Mookai Rose provides safe, caring, and professional health services for women and children from regional and remote Far North Queensland while they’re in Cairns.
In many remote communities, access to healthcare, especially birthing on Country models is limited. As a result, most families are transferred to Cairns to receive the medical care they need.
During this time, our women, children, and elders are often separated from their loved ones and support networks, right when they need them most. That’s where Mookai Rosie steps in.
For over 45 years, Mookai Rosie, its founders, and dedicated staff have provided a culturally safe home away from home for our families while they’re in Cairns.
Inspired by the strength and vision of our founders, the Mookai Rosie team continues to support remote communities with compassion and care. By offering safe, supported accommodation for First Nations women and children, we proudly carry forward the legacy of our Aunties.
Our expanded, family-centred health services aim to improve long-term health outcomes and protect the future of our people.

Mookai Family Health
We’re excited to offer a new, dedicated service to help families grow safe, strong, and healthy — welcome to our Mookai Family Health clinic.
We provide both Primary Care and Midwifery services in a warm, supportive environment. If you need help getting to your appointments, our friendly transport service is available to assist you.
