Celebrate NAIDOC with our Mookai Rosie Family!

Mookai NAIDOC 2024

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration and period of recognition for the achievements, culture, and history of Australia’s First Nations people.

NAIDOC Week celebrations, held from 7th-14th July, will centre on the theme ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud’, celebrating the unyielding spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and inviting all Australians to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced.

The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

On Tuesday 9th July, Mookai Rosie is hosting Mookai NAIDOC Family Day, 3-6pm, at Ravizza Park Edmonton. It’s a free event for the entire community!

If you’re interested in hosting a market stall at our event, please contact Rotana de Busch for more information: rdebusch@mookairosie.org.au / 4081 7500. Stalls to be confirmed by Tuesday 2nd July.

The Mookai team will also be participating in ‘NAIDOC in the Park’, Friday 12th July. You can watch the march along Grafton Street then onto Spence Street from 9.30am, and visit the stalls at Fogarty Park from 10am-5pm. This event is led by Cairns NAIDOC Committee and open to all.

Thank you to National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) for funding National NAIDOC Week activities.
